Project Title: FIRE STORIES

Each year a themed International Festival of Gardens is held at Chaumont-sur-Loire in France.  The theme for the 2004 competition was 'chaos, order and confusion into the garden'.

Fire Stories examines and abstractly represents how the seemingly chaotic and destructive elemental force of fire orders and replenishes the Australian landscape. The design is composed of a number of interrelated elements, each expressing different stories in relation to fire.

“ Fire Stories demonstrates the power of abstraction to explore and communicate cultural and ecological narratives, and reminds us that experimentation is an effective and relevant aspect of our practice. “

Jury citation. AILA 2006 National Commendation Award
