Project Title: REMINDERS OF THE OTHER

Reminders of the Other was a series of interrelated landscape installations evoking the natural textures, forms and elements of the wider Australian landscape.

It was designed to express the elemental nature of Australia emerging through the surface of the ordered city; a reminder to the city inhabitants of the vast landscape that lies beyond the city and within the interior of the continent.

Reminders of the Other was selected for installation through a design competition held in early 1995 by the Melbourne International Festival of the Arts and the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects.

"The jury was impressed by the way these four interrelated ephemeral installations so clearly evoked and dramatised the wild nature of the Australian landscape...  We applaud not only the initiative, but the level of execution demonstrated."

Jury citation. AILA 1998 National Award for Design - Landscape Art
