Project Title: EUCALYPTUS

‘Eucalyptus – Light and Shadow’ seeks to explore some of the unique, paradoxical and mysterious qualities of the Eucalypt and the Australian landscape.

The installations were composed of a series of staggered rusted metal screens. The patterning  of the screens is inspired by the microscopic image of a eucalypt’s cell structure. Each screen is placed vertically referring to the way in which eucalypt leaves present themselves to the sun, an adaption in a hot and dry climate to prevent water loss.

A sinuous line of mixed Eucalypt seedlings runs alongside the screens. The variety of leaf colour, form and texture speak of the vast diversity found among these iconic Australian trees.
