Project Title: Growing Wild Vision

Taylor Cullity Lethlean began working with Zoos Victoria early in 2008 to evolve a Master plan and vision for the new Early Learning Project of the Melbourne Zoo.

Working closely with the Zoos Victoria Team, the consultancy provided a complete re-visioning of the site to produce a concept that ensured the precinct set a benchmark in children zoo experience.

Split into three zones, the precinct explores the idea of home in the tree, on the group and in the water. Children will emerge into the tree tops to feed Lemur and to be at eye level with Tree Kangaroo. Children will be encouraged to run through tunnels to tussock grass, discovering creatures that burrow nest and hide at the ground level. A fine misted entry to the water zone invites interaction with water and children to get their feet wet with the Capybaras.
