Project Title: Oaklands Park Masterplan and Wetland

A new wetland has formed the centrepiece of the new reserve, nestled amongst the existing magnificent gum trees that grace the site.

The Oaklands Wetland project is a partnership between the City of Marion, the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board, the South Australian Government, and the Australian Government.

The wetland cleans stormwater from the Sturt River, and the cleaned stormwater is then stored in a confined aquifer nearly 100 metres under the ground. The stored water will later be pumped through distribution pipes to up to 30 council reserves for irrigation purposes.

The masterplan builds upon the existing character of the site, with existing stands of significant trees generally located to the western edge of the site, a space for active recreational activities at the eastern edge, and existing buildings to the north of the site.TCL lead the master planning of the site and were involved in consultation with key council and community stakeholders to deliver landscape design of the wetland, bridges and custom designed furniture.
