Project Title: Brisbane Airport Link

As part of Brisbane’s new road link connecting Brisbane to the airport, Taylor Cullity Lethlean provided specialist urban design for all major gateway experiences.

The consultation included recommendations advice on tunnel portals, ventilation stacks, noise walls and advice on the aesthetic design of engineering structures such as bridges, sections of elevated road, retaining walls and tunnel lighting design.

A major feature of the driving experience will be two large gateway elements at each end of the main tunnel. One is a large curtain wall at the city interface, an urban gesture that responds to the urban scale of the freeway interchange. The other, a lush subtropical green vertical garden that descends to the portal at the airport side of the tunnel.
