Project Title: CITY PLAYSPACE

Working within complex constraints and brief requirements this playspace utilises landform, existing vegetation, and sculptural elements to create a lively and playful environment.

Titled “Backyard Daydream” the design is based on the theme of a backyard in the city,  that both adults and children can enjoy.

The project involved running further community consultation, and integrating engineering, planting, and lighting requirements as well as ensuring the custom design met a complex array of safety standards associated with playground detailing.

“These artworks surprise not only because they challenge the way we think about and value everyday objects, but because of the controlled way in which concrete, a material recognized for its mass, is used to achieve that effect so lightly and whimsically. “

Jury citation. Cement Concrete and Aggregates Australia 2009 Overall State Winner
