Project Title: MLC Junior School Playground

Created as part of MLC's new junior school development, this project utilises an existing change of level as a major play feature for children aged six to ten years old and a maximum of interest for the seven to eight year olds within a confined site.

Composed within the image of an eroding sand dune, a sequence of active, social and exploratory play elements are integrated into the sculptural walls. Constructed of rendered gunnite walls, the project challenges pre-conceived notions of what is a safe and appropriate playground material.

Slides, dance steps, spiral stairs, climbing nets and ramps allow a new way to enter the schoolyard every day.
